Jun 4, 2025
An investigation is continuing into the tragedy
The death of a young woman who was crushed by a hotel wardrobe remains a mystery with no clear answers on what led to the fatal incident.
An investigation into how Chloe Haynes died remains open nearly three years after she was discovered at the Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool in the early hours of September 10, 2022. The 'kind and caring' 21-year-oldhad been on a night out - but it soon ended in tragedy as her lifeless body was found beneath the toppled piece of furniture.
Three men were arrested on suspicion of murder in the immediate aftermath, but were later released without charge when police realised her death was the result of a tragic accident. Liverpool Council's Environmental Health department launched a probe into the Chloe's death. The council said in an update that the investigation remains ongoing with no timeframe on when it may be concluded.
It comes after a pre-inquest review into Chloe's death was pushed back after initially being listed with Liverpool Coroner's Office for Thursday, June 5, the Liverpool Echo reports. After her death, Chloe's mum, Nicola Williams, vowed to get to the bottom of exactly how the "petite and beautiful" girl she nicknamed "birdy" died under such odd circumstances.
Chloe, who had a twin brother and three other siblings, travelled to Liverpool from Hafan y Mor Haven Holiday Park in Pwllheli, North Wales, where she worked, for a night out. She was sharing the hotel room with her colleague, who raised the alarm after finding Chloe's body.
