Jun 7, 2025
A bull has been seen on the loose on the streets of Birmingham today. The animal was first seen at about 9.30am on the road near New Bond Street, Digbeth, about a mile southeast of the city centre.
Passersby later filmed the bull trotting past the Golden Suite event space along Anderton Road in Small Heath, about 1.4km away.
Footage shows it then charging along Golden Hillock Road, just by Small Heath train station, into incoming traffic.
Unfazed' street cleaners helped guide the runaway bull into an old Dunelm building this afternoon.Where the animal came from is unclear, with council officials now trying to locate its owner Birmingham is a city all about bulls: bull-baiting was once a popular sport in the markets in the 1700s and the city's main shopping centre is the Bullring. Ozzy the bull was also the city's mascot when it hosted the Commonwealth Games in 2022.
The council said in a statement to Metro: 'Council staff weren't fazed when they came across a stray bull roaming the streets of Birmingham.
'When asked to help, our street cleansing crew was on the case, helping to remove this beautiful, albeit misplaced, animal to safety.
'They helped corral it into the old Dunelm site where colleagues in animal welfare and park rangers kept it and the public safe, in support of the police. We are currently trying to identify an owner.'Councillor Majid Mahmood said: 'This magnificent animal seemed to be enjoying an unexpected city break, but our amazing street cleansing staff weren't phased at all, helping moving it into a safe place.
