Jason Isaacs has shown his support for his former on-screen son Tom Felton, after he announced his controversial decision to return to the Harry Potter franchise.

The news was met with a muted response due to the ongoing controversy surrounding the franchise’s creator JK Rowling, who has become a divisive figure as a result of her ongoing comments about the trans community (which has included repeatedly and deliberately misgendering prolific transgender public figures and making a hefty donation to a campaign that resulted in the UK Supreme Court’s divisive ruling that the legal definition of a woman now only constitutes those assigned female at birth).

At Sunday night’s Tonys, Tom made headlines when he defended his decision to appear in the Harry Potter play, after which Jason told him on X: “Saw you presenting on the Tonys tonight son - you looked good, sounded good and did great.”
