Surprise transfer could net Leeds United PR boost amid £18m exit talk

Leeds United could get a boost of their finances by an unexpected sale
Leeds United have already enjoyed a £3.8m pure profit boost to their Profit and Sustainability balance thanks to the sale of Charlie Cresswell to Toulouse last summer. That deal helped the Whites balance the books last season.
Now, while they're not in need of any quick cash injections to help with PSR as they were 12 months ago, Leeds could be set for another timely addition of profit to the balance sheet thanks to the surprise transfer again of Cresswell.
The defender enjoyed an impressive first season in France which saw him attract attention from a number of clubs regarding a potential sale. However, that interest has spiked significantly in recent weeks on the back of his performances for England under-21s in helping the nation to retaining the UEFA U21 European Championship title this weekend.
Cresswell has played a key role in the tournament and is now being tipped with a move to the Premier League, while Serie A clubs Como and Atalanta are also being linked with interest. According to journalist Alan Nixon, Toulouse value Cresswell at £18m, with a sale at that price likely to net Leeds just over £2m thanks to a sell on clause.
As a homegrown player, that transfer cash would again be marked down as pure profit in terms of PSR, giving Leeds even more money to spend in the transfer market.
