Family Of Missing Blogger Finally Speaks Out And Reveal Who Abducted Him and Reasons Behind
Jul 2, 2025
A wave of fear and fury has swept through Limuru following the dramatic late-night abduction of Peter Kinyanjui Kawanjiru, the Youth Coordinator for the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) in Kiambu County. The incident, which unfolded around 8:30 p.m., has sparked public outrage and intensified calls for an end to politically motivated disappearances.
According to multiple accounts, heavily armed men in uniform claiming to be officers from Kiambu Road stormed Kawanjiru’s home. His wife, Catherine Wambui, described a chaotic scene where the officers broke down doors and fired shots in the air before dragging her husband away without a warrant or formal charge. “They terrified everyone. No one explained anything. It felt like a kidnapping,” she said.
His mother, Beatrice Wanjiru, was equally distraught. “I begged them to tell me what my son had done. All they said was, ‘We are doing our job.’ But they offered no justification.”
Witnesses say the standoff lasted nearly four hours, with more reinforcements and vehicles arriving to seal off the area. The officers allegedly confiscated electronics and documents from the home, again without any explanation or paperwork.
The family suspects Kawanjiru’s outspoken activism and role in recent protests may have made him a target. Known for rallying under the “Wantam” slogan, he had reportedly been vocal about government accountability and youth rights.
