Jeopardy! champion Klay Frappier sparks debate after using 'old-fashioned' strategy to win

Jeopardy! champion Klay Frappier has been igniting much online conversation after he uses a traditional game strategy to snag his recent victory
Jeopardy! fans have split reactions about the latest game show champion, Klay Frappier’s strategy after his recent win.
Klay took down returning champion Rocci Graziano and Michelle Arguelles, earning $20,001 by the end of the game, which aired June 27. Fans of the show have been debating the top-down strategy Klay implemented when playing the game in a thread on Reddit. Instead of bouncing around to higher-level questions in different categories with the intent of confusing competitors and locating Daily Doubles, Klay would pick questions one at a time from each category.
Contestant Chuck Forrest, who debuted on Jeopardy! in 1985, popularized the strategy of bouncing around the trivia board, and the tactic is known as the Forrest Bounce.
In the Reddit forum, one fan appreciated Klay’s playing style. "I'm so happy that Klay plays with the old fashioned top-down, one category at a time style. I acknowledge the Forrest Bounce is apparently effective (though, if every player is doing it, is it really?),” one Redditor wrote.
The fan added, "But as a home viewer I really love getting the easier questions first to get the 'swing' of a category and then being able to stick to that category's frame-of-mind. It was sooo refreshing to see him play that way and play along."
