Cassius Mailula has made his intentions crystal clear — he wants a return to Mamelodi Sundowns. The 23-year-old forward, who recently concluded a loan stint at Moroccan heavyweights Wydad Athletic Club, has sent a heartfelt message to his former club that many are viewing as a bold “come and get me” plea.

Speaking candidly on Metro FM’s Sports Night Amplified, Mailula expressed his unwavering affection for the club where he first rose to prominence. “I love Sundowns. Sundowns is home,” he said passionately.

“Given the President and the Chairman know that it’s my first love. And obviously, before I can think of other things or other teams, I will start with Sundowns. If things don’t go well in terms of negotiations and all of that, then I can start to think of other things — but for me, Sundowns is my home. So Sundowns first.”

Mailula’s public declaration is likely to turn heads at Chloorkop, with the club’s technical team and management now expected to weigh up a possible move to re-sign the dynamic attacker.

A Sundowns academy graduate, Mailula initially made a dazzling impact at the club before earning a transfer to Major League Soccer side Toronto FC. His time in North America was followed by a season-long loan at Wydad, where he contributed five goals and seven assists in 27 appearances — an encouraging return that adds value to his profile.
