BREAKING: FBI agents have arrested Xu Zewei, a 33-year-old Chinese national. He was picked up in Milan, Italy, by FBI Houston agents following a U.S. issued arrest warrant. He is accused of participating in cyber espionage activities, targeting COVID-19 research among other cyberattacks. He worked with another individual, Zhang Yu, and both are implicated in stealing research data from U.S. institutions at the behest of China's Ministry of State Security. One of their attacks also severely damaged Microsoft’s equipment. They face multiple charges including computer intrusion and theft of trade secrets. He is one of the first Chinese spies ever arrested by the FBI.
