Emmerdale favourite unrecognisable 12 years after soap exit as she reveals new career
Jul 9, 2025

Actress Sian Reese-Williams played Gennie Walker on Emmerdale from 2008 until 2013, before her character was killed off in shocking circumstances by Cameron Murray

Emmerdale fans would be hard-pressed to recognise Sian Reese-Williams 12 years after her on-screen persona, Gennie Walker, met a shocking end.
Welsh-born star Sian catapulted to fame playing Gennie in the ITV soap, making her first appearance in 2008. Gennie burst onto the scene as Brenda Walker's (Lesley Dunlop) adopted daughter.
Before long, Gennie won the hearts of fans across the nation, becoming an integral part of the show. Her on-screen exploits saw her experience a series of tumultuous relationships before eventually finding love with Nikhil Sharma (Rik Makarem).
Her time in the Dales, however, was abruptly cut short when her character fell victim to a murder at the hands of Cameron Murray (Dominic Power) in 2013. This horrific act was an attempt by Cameron to conceal the truth behind Carl King's (Tom Lister) untimely demise.
Sian remained active in the industry post-her Emmerdale exit, landing roles in notable productions like Netflix's Requiem, Holby City, and a stint as Sgt. Jane Cafferty in BBC's Line of Duty, reports Belfast Live.
This year, Sian broke the news of her bold new professional venture: a career in pottery. She announced: "Hello. I make pottery now. I'll be selling these from next Friday so if you fancy a one-off piece of loveliness to brighten your January, head over to my insta."
