It's equally easy and healthy.
Long before overnight oats took over TikTok, Instagram and wellness blogs, Princess Diana was already spooning into the now-trendy breakfast every morning — and now her former personal chef is revealing exactly how she liked it.
In a new video posted to YouTube, Darren McGrady, who cooked for the royal family for more than a decade, shared Diana’s go-to morning meal: a bowl of nutrient-packed overnight oats with Greek yogurt, fresh fruit, and walnuts.
“This was Princess Diana’s breakfast dish most mornings,” McGrady says in the clip, which has already racked up over 180,000 views. “Super healthy and packed with protein and nutrients — the perfect start to her busy days.”
Here’s how to make Princess Diana’s overnight oats, according to her former royal chef:
(Makes 2 servings)
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
1 cup Greek yogurt
1 tablespoon raw honey
¼ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
½ Honeycrisp apple, grated
Juice of 1 lemon
1 cup fresh blueberries
½ cup toasted walnuts
Instructions:
Add the orange juice to the oats, stir, and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate overnight. In the morning, stir in the yogurt, honey (to taste), and lemon juice. Fold in the grated apple and half of the blueberries. Spoon into a bowl and top with the remaining blueberries and toasted walnuts.
