I fully endorse Mr. Kojo Choi's appointment; It is a masterstroke for maximum effect—Newton-Offei

Former Presidential Staffer under the Akufo-Addo administration, Justice Abeeku Newton-Offei, has lauded President John Dramani Mahama’s appointment of Mr. Kojo Choi as Ghana’s Ambassador-designate to South Korea, describing it as a strategic and visionary move that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) should emulate in future diplomatic decisions.
In a strongly worded Facebook post, Newton-Offei contrasted Mahama’s bold appointment of Kojo Choi with what he called the discriminatory treatment faced by Fadi Samih Dabbousi, a Ghanaian whose ambassadorial prospects under the NPP were allegedly thwarted due to his Lebanese heritage and skin tone.
“This gentleman [Kojo Choi] was actually born in South Korea and came to Ghana at the age of 14 when his parents relocated. He is now a naturalized Ghanaian citizen. Compare that to Fadi, who was born in Ghana to parents who naturalized in 1949. Yet, Fadi was rejected because of his pigmentation and background,” Newton-Offei lamented.
While expressing personal disappointment in how the NPP handled Dabbousi’s potential appointment, Newton-Offei praised the strategic implications of Kojo Choi’s elevation to the ambassadorial role.
“As someone with expertise in international relations and diplomacy, I fully endorse Mr. Kojo Choi's appointment. It is a masterstroke for maximum effect. Can you imagine the diplomatic leverage Ghana will gain when South Korea sees one of their own representing Ghana?” he added.
