A family in Kapsara, Kitale, has been thrown into deep mourning after receiving news of the sudden death of their daughter, Lornah Chebet, who died in Saudi Arabia while working as a househelp.

Chebet had moved abroad in search of a better life and was employed in Abha.

Her life was tragically cut short when she was involved in a road accident while travelling on a trip with her employer, the employer’s husband, and their two children.

The group was heading to Riyadh when the crash occurred.

TikTok user Najran Chepkehi broke the heartbreaking news online.

She explained that a woman working in Abha had been travelling to Riyadh with her female employer, the employer’s husband, and their child when the accident happened.

She reported that the employer’s husband and their child died on the spot, while the woman and another child were rushed to hospital in critical condition.

Chebet later succumbed to her injuries, and her body was taken to Al-Muzahmiyya General Hospital.

The young girl who also died in the accident, aged four, was taken to the same hospital.

Her sister, Mercy Jepkemoi, learned about the incident on social media and was overcome with grief.

In a TikTok video, she tearfully confirmed the news, identifying Chebet as her sister and saying she was their fourth-born among six siblings.
