Grassroots Football Showcase Set for La McDan Park
Aug 17, 2025
A unique football exhibition dubbed “The Big Game” will pit emerging talent against newly certified coaches at Accra’s La McDan Park on August 31.
Skillsman Tornado, organizer and CAF License D coach, will field his youth academy team against a squad of freshly qualified coaches in the 4pm clash.
Tornado, whose NGO Skillsman 11 Foundation scouts and trains players as young as six, framed the event as dual-purpose: showcasing raw talent while testing tactical skills of Ghana’s newest coaches. “Come see these boys’ skills with your own eyes,” he urged fans, promising a display of technical flair from prospects groomed through his community program.
The coach – cousin of Black Stars legend Stephen Appiah – brings multifaceted sports experience to the initiative. Beyond football development, he manages boxing talent and organizes beach soccer leagues around Teshie and Nungua. His foundation represents a growing grassroots effort to fill developmental gaps in Ghanaian sports.
Sunday’s match offers spectators a firsthand look at football’s next generation. For Tornado, it’s another step toward his vision: “We’re trying our best to nurture talent where it matters most – at the foundation.”
