Local police in Huaihua in Central China’s Hunan Province issued a notice on Sunday about a suspected infant-trafficking case, saying that four suspects had been arrested and three infants successfully rescued as of Saturday evening.
At about 12 pm on Saturday, Hecheng police received a report that a person had discovered suspected clues of infant trafficking. The local police station responded, controlled two suspects and notified the informant to cooperate with the investigation, according to a police notice released by the Hecheng branch of the Huaihua Municipal Public Security Bureau via its official WeChat account.
After the initial investigation confirmed the report, local police immediately established a special task force and opened a case for investigation. As of Saturday evening, four suspects had been arrested and three infants successfully rescued. The case is currently under further investigation, the notice said.
Public security authorities maintain a “zero tolerance” stance toward illegal and criminal acts that violate the rights and interests of women and children and will crack down resolutely in accordance with the law, the notice said.
