- Real Madrid have been long term admirers for Eden Hazard
- The Belgian playmaker has on his part never hid his desire to play for the La Liga giants
- The reappointment of Zidane as Madrid boss has further thrown Hazard's future at Chelsea into speculation
A section of Chelsea players have expressed their fear Eden Hazard may dump the club for a move to Real Madrid in the summer.
The reappointment of Zinedine Zidane as Madrid manager just ten months after he quit from the same position has thrown Hazard's future at Chelsea under sharp speculation.
Hazard has in the past publicly acknowledged he idolised Zidane growing up, making his desire to play under the Frenchman known.
Blues' defender Emerson Palmieri has now come out to reveal the fear and panic that has gripped Chelsea dressing room over the possible departure of the Belgian playmaker.
"Like Chelsea fans, we are afraid that he might leave, I still believe that he will stay and we really want him to stay," the left-back told Sky Sports.
Emerson was, however, quick to admit he hopes Hazard stays despite the winger running out of contract in 2020 at the club.
"I personally cannot see him leaving, but you never know in football. He shows every day how important he is. Obviously we have many players of quality in our team but he is on another level, and is one of the best in the world," he added.
According to reports filtering through at Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid see Hazard as the perfect replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo who sealed a sensational move to Juventus in the summer of 2018.
