A bank teller at the Tema main branch of the National Investment Bank (NIB) is being investigated for forgetting to lock-up an amount of GH¢35,520 in the vault on a say robbers stormed the bank.
The incident is reported to have happened on Saturday, April 7, 2019, at about 4 pm.
According to a report by the Graphic Online, the teller (name withheld) put the cash in a polythene bag near her desk and went home.
A security man who was on duty that day found the GH¢35,520 and also hid it in the boot of a vehicle belonging to the bank.
Meanwhile, the robbers could not find the money despite managing to break into the bank on the same night.
However, both the teller and the security officer are currently being investigated by the Tema Community One District Police Command.
The security officer is currently in police custody and is being investigated for not informing his supervisor when he found the money which had been left behind.
The Tema Community One District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Stephen Kwasi Kwakye, said they suspect the robbers had some insider information which armed them to launch the attack.

“Presently, we have asked the bank to provide us with the CCTV footage to aid our investigations into the matter,” Chief Supt Kwakye added.
Meanwhile, the phones of the teller and security officer have been sent to the police headquarters in Accra to check their call records within the period of the incident.
All four robbers who broke into the bank that night failed in their operation, but managed to escape before being apprehended.
The bank teller has since been granted a police enquiry bail, while the security officer is still in custody, as the police continue with their investigations.
