Arsenal Fans Claim That Saka is Better Than Greenwood, Keown Claims he Was Better Than Pepe
Sept. 20, 2019
Arsenal legend Martin Keown joined fans in praising the performance of youngster Bukayo Saka after he scored his first goal for the club as well as providing two assists, and said that the academy graduate played better than record signing Nicolas Pepe.
Saka started the game against Eintracht Frankfurt in the team’s first Europa League group game of the season, and although he was slow in the beginning, he grew into the match and provided the assist for Joe Willock. Saka’s tenacity also earned Frankfurt a red card, after which the youngster exploded, scoring his goal and assists Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Keown revealed that he was blown away by the youngster’s performance, even suggesting it was much better than what Pepe offered to the team.
“They toil away, trying to get young players in and they’ve found one in Saka,” Keown stated, according to Goal . “You think of the way Pepe is playing at the minute, they paid £72m ($90m) for him and this kid looked better than him tonight. When Saka gets the ball, he shows composure, he’s passing it into the goal, it’s a beautiful finish. To think he’s 18 years of age.”
Fans showed their appreciation on Twitter as well, with many saying he’s far better than rival Manchester United’s own teenager Mason Greenwood.
