Sept. 20, 2019

Andy Carroll could make his second Newcastle debut this weekend when Brighton visit St James’ Park – as long as he makes it through Friday’s training session unscathed.
The Magpies host Graham Potter’s side at 5:30pm, and talkSPORT brings you full LIVE commentary of the match as part of our GameDay coverage.
They’ve struggled for goals this season with only four in five matches – the second lowest total in the division – and Steve Bruce brought in Carroll on a free transfer during the summer to improve his side’s firepower.

However, he arrived on Tyneside injured, and has so far been forced to sit on the sidelines awaiting his second Magpies debut.
But the forward is close to returning and could even make his first appearance of the season on Saturday, as long as he avoids picking up a new injury before the visit of Brighton.
Bruce confirmed Carroll’s possible return during his press conference, and also discussed Allan Saint-Maximin’s fitness and Miguel Almiron’s continuing hunt for a goal.
You can read the best bits from his press conference, below…
On Andy Carroll
“We all know if Andy stays fit he’s a wonderful, wonderful centre forward. He’s a bit old school if you like to say that. Of his type, there’s nobody better in last 8-10 years when playing. A fit Andy Carroll is going to be huge. It’s great for us going forward.
“Since he’s got fit and been around, outside on the grass and training with us the last week, it’s been pretty evident he’s given everyone a lift. Hopefully he’ll give supporters a lift as well. A local lad who’s come back home. Good to see him back involved.”
On possible Carroll-Joelinton strike partnership
“I saw Joelinton play for Hoffenheim against Man City when he played towards the left. He’s done it throughout his career.
“A lot of teams play three forwards these days. No problem if we play two of them. Allan [Saint-Maximin] is there as well.”
On Peter Beardsley
“It’s before my time so I don’t want to comment but a very, very difficult time.”

On the Brighton match
“The vast majority of the team have been [here] for a while now so they understand the demands and the importance of a game against Brighton. They’ve had a total change of style, so it’ll be a difficult game, but we’re at home and it’s a wonderful opportunity.”
On Miguel Almiron
“I‘ve spoken with him every day. I am convinced once he gets one [goal], more will follow.”
