A married woman who was seeking bail for her husband was raped several times by a police officer who offered to give her accommodation.
The police officer, believed to be an officer of higher rank at Manso Datano in the Ashanti Region was arrested and detained after the wife of the suspect made the sudden revelation to Nhyira FM.
The Ashanti Regional Police quickly took actions to arrest the police officer in question and also interdicted him.
According to the woman’s narration, the police officer offered her accommodation due to her late arrival at the police station.
After hearing this, the Regional Police has started investigations into the matter in a press statement. According to ASP Godwin Ahianyo, the Regional Police will not shield the officer and will make sure to bring him into justice for such an irresponsible act.
The victim is a wife and a mother of five children hailing from the Northern Region. Her husband who arrived in Manso to search for a job ended up been arrested by police for a criminal offence and was in the cell for three days.
Upon hearing the news through a telephone call, she arrived late at the station and was offered a place to rest by the officer. However, it was bad news for her as the officer came to her room several times raping her.
While narrating her story to Nhyira FM, the victim added that she initially refused to use the room but the officer insisted saying that he wasn’t going to use the room that particular night.
But it was a lie, he sneaked into her room and forced his way and terrifying her that he wouldn’t release her husband if she doesn’t agree to it.
