Jose Mourinho tight-lipped on Edinson Cavani to Tottenham transfer rumours and jokes ‘very good friends’ PSG could send Kylian Mbappe on loan

Jan. 22, 2020

Jose Mourinho refused to discuss Tottenham’s reported interest in Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani out of respect for the French club.
Instead, he joked that he has such a good relationship with PSG’s chiefs they could help him out by sending Kylian Mbappe to Spurs on loan!
Tottenham are amongst a group of Premier League sides said to be looking at the possibility of signing Cavani this month after he handed in a transfer request.
The Uruguay veteran wants to leave the French capital this month ahead of becoming a free agent in the summer, but PSG won’t let him go for anything less than £25million.
Manchester United and Chelsea have been linked with January swoops, while Spurs entered the race when Harry Kane was struck down by an injury which will keep the talismanic striker sidelined until April at the earliest.
“Paris Saint-Germain player!” Mourinho laughed when asked about Cavani. “I think I have a very good relationship with Mr Nasser [Al-Khelaifi, president] and Mr Leonardo [sporting director], and I want to keep that great relationship.
“Good relations are based on respect, and I’m not going to speak about a player from Paris Saint-Germain.
“Unless you want a joke: if they are my friends they could send Mbappe on a loan.
“More than that, I have nothing to say.”
