MMA female fighters, Weili Zhang and Joanna Jedrzejczyk have been issued two-month medical suspension after their championship fight left them both disfigured.
During the showdown in Las Vegas last Saturday, the pair inflicted serious injuries on themselves and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment. The fight lasted for five rounds and strawweight champion Weili Zhang was able to to retain her title following a split decision by the judges.
According to MMA Mania, Nevada State Athletic Commission has now issued a two-month medical suspension to the fighters.
The fighters who both will be out of the Octagon until May 5, were also ordered not to take part in contact sparring until April 22.
In other news, Nigerian MMA middleweight champion Israel Adesanya aka the last stylebender in a sad turn of events could be forced to sit out six months of action after injuring both his feet in the victory over Yoel Romero.
In the event that the Nigerian, 30, be found to have broken bones in both his feet, he will be handed a medical suspension lasting until September.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission can confirm the ban once Adesanya has undergone an X-ray on both feet to know the severity of any injury
At the very least, his injuries will put him out of action until April 7 with no sparring allowed until March 29.
