Valencia Defender Is The First La Liga Player To Test Positive For COVID-19
March. 16, 2020
Argentina and Valencia defender Ezequiel Garay have been tested positive for the coronavirus according to the player.
The development makes him the first Laliga player to confirm he has the virus that has wreaked havoc on global sport with the top five leagues in Europe already on recess to tackle the epidemic.
In an Instagram post, Garay said: “It’s clear that I have got off to the wrong start in 2020. I’ve tested positive for the coronavirus, I feel very good and now I just have to listen to the health authorities and for now, remain isolated.”
The virus isn’t a set back of a sort for Valencia and the player as Garay already had been ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a knee injury in February.
Since Saturday, Spain has been in partial lockdown as part of a 15-day state of emergency to combat the epidemic with the country having suffered 196 coronavirus deaths and recorded almost 6,400 cases thus far.
