Asamoah Gyan replies Coach Herve Renard for saying he was a lazy player
May 22, 2020
Former Ghana Blackstars captain, Asamoah Gyan has replied coach Herve Renard on his comments that he was a lazy player who was only concerned about playing games rather than training hard.
“The quality of Asamoah Gyan was amazing. I was always impressed with his timing of headers,” the Saudi Arabia coach said in an interview with TV3’s Juliet Bawuah.
“He was a very good goalscorer, fantastic player, amazing player.
“But I have something to tell him. He was supposed to have a better career, but he was lazy,” Renard said while laughing.
“In training, he was lazy. He only likes the games. But he was the most important player but I know him and he didn’t like the training, he only likes the competition, the games,” he concluded.
Well, Gyan in his counter-response has said that he’s not a lazy player.
The former Sunderland hitman is quoted by a Footy-Ghana.com source as saying:
“I am not lazy. I put in 70% hard work and practice the basics needed at training. And, then, I give everything I have in games. “I work hard in games; the final output is what matters, and not during training. Consistency is what matters.”
When Ghana hosted the African cup in 2008, 51-year-old Herve was Ghana’s physical coach so he once worked with Gyan.
Footy-Ghana.com has gathered that when Herve was then working as a physical coach, he used to involve the National team players in extremely difficult training and Gyan complained about it several.
