A glorious church
Sep 20, 2020
Jesus Christ is coming for a glorious church. Glorious church as used in our text, is not a physical edifice, cathedral or mansion. Rather, it is an assembly of saints, saved and washed by the blood of the Lamb earnestly waiting for the coming of the Lord. It is a church that interests and attracts the attention of heaven; glorious church is not a noise-making church but a spotless holy church without wrinkles of any sort.
There are qualities in the above text under reference that makes or ‘unmake’ a glorious church. They are as follows: Spots: (Jude 12; 2Pet. 2:13) naturally, spots have the ability of distorting someone else’s face. In the church, spots can destroy fellowship and pull down the righteousness of God. Immorality, lust, witchcraft activities, etc, are spots that when allowed to fester, can capsize the boat of any church. It also has the potency of destroying individuals and homes. Most times, spots are very difficult to dictate out because it’s hidden except with spiritual eyes that discern.
The second quality is Wrinkle: this is a sign of an old age that disfigures face and it is usually associated with old people. At that age, there is no attraction again. A church that allows wrinkle is described as a Laodicean Church (Rev. 3:15). It is a wretched and miserable church destitute of the truth of God’s word. It is a church that is dead but deceitfully assumed what they are not. The third one is ‘any such thing’: this attribute is unchristian. It is a practice that deviates from the standard of the scripture (1John 2:15-17; James 4:4). It’s worldliness and affinity with the world and its custom. This put a big question mark to today’s so-called Pastors and Christian leaders who parley with the world and politicians (2 Cor. 6:14-18). The Lord regards them as adulterers and adulteresses!
