Meet The Top 10 Personalities Who Comes From Eastern Region

Never give up regardless of where you find yourself. Success is no respecter of location or origin. If you believe in yourself and pursue your dreams avoiding all distractions and discouragements, then you will surely get to your desired destination. With this article, my intention is to present to you some famous personalities in Ghana who come from some towns and villages in the Eastern Region. This is to motivate you to appreciate wherever you are coming from and to never let your location nip your aspirations in the bud. To know who these prominent personalities are and their respective hometowns in Eastern Region, read this article to the latter. Here are they:
1. Akufo Addo
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo, now the president of Ghana. He was born in Accra to Edward Akufo- Addo, a politician and a member of the " Big Six" , and Adeline Sylvia Eugenia Ama Yeboakua Akufo- Addo, the second lady in the second republic of Ghana. His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo comes from Akropong- Akuapem and Kyebi in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
2. George Boateng
George Boateng is a professional footballer who played as a defensive midfielder for the Dutch giants Feyenoord Rotterdam from 1995- 1998. He later played for clubs such as Coventry City, Aston Villa, Middlesbrough, Hull City and Nottingham Forest. Boateng also played for the Netherlands U- 21 between 1995- 1998 and their senior national team between 2001- 2006. He comes from Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region of Ghana and currently the youth coach of Aston Villa.
3. Thomas Teye Partey
Thomas Teye Partey is currently Ghana' s outstanding football player based in Europe. He plays as a defensive midfielder for Atletico Madrid, a Spanish club and has featured in the Ghana national team, the Black Stars on most occasions. Party started his youth career at Odometah FC and later went to Atletico Madrid B, and to Mallorca and Almeria on loan. This youngster is a product of Eastern Region, specifically Krobo Odumase.
4. Samuel Atta Akyea
Samuel Atta Akyea is a famous Ghanaian politician and lawyer. He is the Member of Parliament of Akim Abuakwa South Constituency and the Minister of Works and Housing. Samuel Atta Akyea was born in Kyebi in the Eastern Region of Ghana. He had a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law and Philosophy at the University of Ghana. He is an active member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
5. Ken Ofori Attah
Kenneth Ofori- Atta is an economist, investment banker and politician. He is also the co- founder of Databank Financial Services. Currently, he is a member of the New Patriotic Party and serves as the Minister for Finance and Economic Planning under the leadership of His Excellency Nana Akufo- Addo. Ken Ofori Atta is the cousin of the president of Ghana. He was born in Kyebi (Kibi), a town and the capital of East Akim Municipality in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
6. Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin
Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin is one of the highly respected chiefs in the Akan fraternity. He is the 35th chief of Akyem Abuakwa in the Eastern Region of Ghana. He is a dignified figure of the Okyeman and his lifestyle is worthy of emulation. On 4th October 1999, Osagyefo was enstool to take the place of Osagyefo Kuntunkunuku. He comes from Kibi (Kyebi).
7. Abedi Pele
Abedi Ayew is a prominent professional footballer of Ghana. He is professionally known in football as Abedi Pele. He played as an attacking midfielder for the Ghana national team, the Black Stars, and clubs such as Real Tamale United, a club based in Tamale, Ghana, Mulhouse, Marseille, Lyon and Al Ain. He is the head coach and president of Nania FC. Abedi Pele was born at Kibi in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
Nathaniel Totimeh, popularly known as Kokoveli is a Ghanaian musician born to Prince Totimeh and Mavis Ofosu Appiah. He is known for songs such as Zaaza, Pallekele and Odo Posie. He was the originator of the zaaza dance, which he was given the opportunity to reach the public on Ghana Television on 1st July 2003. He later joined the Trinity Clan which included Samini, and K. K Fosu.
9. Dede Ayew
Andre Morgan Rami Ayew, known in the football profession as Dede Ayew, is the son of former Ghanaian ace, Abedi Pele. He plays as a winger for the Ghana senior team and his club, Swansea City, a professional football club based in Swansea that plays in the Championship. Dede is the captain of the Black Stars and has played 88 matches and scored 15 goals. Though he was born in Seclin, a community in the Nord department in France, he is considered as one of the sons of Eastern Region since his parents are products of this region.
