Dele, Tottenham Continue Climb with 3-2 Win Over Bournemouth

Nov. 30, 2019

A brace from the resurgent Dele Alli helped push Tottenham Hotspur past Bournemouth, club’s third straight win in all competitions since Jose Mourinho took charge.
Despite Harry Wilson pulling two back late for Bournemouth, Tottenham Hotspur again continued the climb from the bottom-half of the table back toward the top four in the Premier League, with at 3-2 win on Matchweek 14 . Dele Alli had two goals and Moussa Sissoko had a beauty for the winner, with Son Heung-Min adding two assists for Spurs as the club notched their 5th victory and 2nd straight.
Spurs slow start with new starters
As has been the case all season Tottenham started the game slowly. Ten minutes i and it was clear Spurs were going to try to press more.
A similar formation and line-up to the last two games was used, with changes at left back, Jan Vertonghen slotting in for Danny Rose, right wing, with Moussa Sissoko coming in for Lucas Moura, and at holding midfield, with Ndombele in for Harry Winks. It was the first real opportunity for all three under the new management and all three were up to task.
Ndombele had an early tackle that left him clutching at his ankle for about five minutes. Maybe the pain went away or maybe he saw Harry Winks with a big running up and down the touchline warming up, whatever it was Ndombele shook off the knock and went on to really influence the game.
His ability to stick a foot in, his confidence on the ball, and willingness to push the attack all complement Eric Dier’s plodding defensive style.
As for Vertonghen and Sissoko, Jan was steady at left back/center-half as Spurs continued their hybrid defense. Sissoko got his first goal since anyone can remember. The game winner was a thing of beauty, so it’s safe to say the new players introduced into the starting XI were effective, although I’d be willing to place a small bet on Harry Winks and Lucas Moura both starting against Manchester United midweek.  For more on player performance,  see our Hotspur HQ player ratings here .
