Transfer news LIVE - Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal updates
Liverpool talked up as being able to move for talisman Kylian Mbappe
Chelsea have identified two main options to bolster their defence
Arsenal are weighing up their options after receiving several offers
Man Utd £50m transfer price set
Manchester United transfer target Donny van de Beek has had a £50m valuation slapped on him by Ajax as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer considers a deal to snap the midfielder up.
Express Sport understands the Red Devils have turned their attention to the Holland international after learning snaring Leicester’s James Maddison in January will be nigh on impossible.
United have been given a boost in the knowledge that Ajax are prepared to sanction an exit for the highly-rated Van de Beek in the winter transfer window.
However, they will not let him go on the cheap, with Ajax chiefs setting their asking price for the playmaker at a cool £50m.
Kylian Mbappe to Liverpool
Liverpool are "in the best place possible" to launch a raid on Paris Saint-Germain for star man Kylian Mbappe after they announced a mega kit sponsorship deal with Nike.
That is according to sports marketing expert Alan Seymour who has though raised doubts over whether the Reds will make the most of their advantage and move for the forward, who has regularly been linked with a switch to Anfield.
"I don’t think Liverpool need to and I don’t think it’s in their sphere of thinking at the moment," Seymour told the Evening Standard , when asked about a potential swoop for Mbappe.
"If it happens that the trends going forward dictate that that will be a key issue, then they’re in the best place possible to do it, but I don’t see Liverpool looking at that immediately.
"Nike have done it quite well and effectively before, obviously, but I don’t think it’s for Liverpool Football Club at the moment."
Chelsea’s two transfer targets
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is determined to bolster his defence this month and has a back-up plan in case a move for Issa Diop is unsuccessful.
Express Sport revealed on Wednesday night that West Ham’s Diop has risen to the top of Chelsea’s wanted list as they try to land a new centre-back.
Lampard has, though, prepared himself in case landing Diop proves impossible, with Nathan Ake understood to be on his radar as well.
Diop and Ake have both excelled during their spells with West Ham and Bournemouth respectively and Chelsea hope to sign either for about £40m.
Arsenal review bids
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has confirmed the Gunners are considering loan offers for promising youngsters Emile Smith-Rowe, Eddie Nketiah and Tyreece John-Jules.
"We are assessing the situation with three of them," said Arteta. "Evaluating the offers from various clubs, which will suit them more, and if it’s the right time to make that step.
"In the next few days we will tell you what happens with them. With Eddie I’m very impressed. He has become a much more competitive player at Leeds.
"The decision to make now is whether to send him out again for another five months to realise his potential ready for next season, or keep him. It’s something we have to discuss."
