Tsomo man in court after fatal stabbing at mqombothi ceremony

Tsomo - Tsomo police over the weekend arrested a 43-year-old man for alleged murder of a 25-year-old man.
"It is alleged that both the suspect and the deceased had attended a traditional mqombothi (liquor) event on Friday, at about 14h00, at Kwezama Locality, Qombolo Village, Tsomo," said police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha.
"The elderly men were drinking inside the hut while the young men were outside.
"A misunderstanding between the two men arose and the suspect drew his knife."
Capt Manatha said that it is alleged that he stabbed the 25-year old man on his upper body.
"The 25-year-old man was rushed to Cofimvaba Hospital where he later passed away. The suspect took on his heels."
He was traced and arrested on Saturday. He has been charged with murder.
"The suspect will appear before the Tsomo Magistrate’s Court on Monday, on a murder charge," Capt Manatha said.
"The identity of the deceased will be released once all his relatives are officially informed of his murder."
