Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay scored as Manchester United beat Manchester City 2-0 in an English Premier League match played at Old Trafford on Sunday evening.
City goalkeeper Ederson was at fault for both goals as he let Martial shot slip under him in the first half before a weak throw could only travel as far as McTominay feet. The lanky midfielder launching a 36-yeard volley into an empty net.
Fred was booked for going down easily in the box under Nicholas Otamendi challenge.
Sergio Aguero thought he had pulled City level when his shot went past a stranded David de Gea but VAR ruled that he was in an offside position
The win sees United keep their Champions League dreams alive as they are three points off Chelsea who beat Everton 4-0 in an earlier match.
The result also means that Liverpool are only two wins away from lifting their first ever Premier League title. City will play Arsenal on Wednesday and Burnley on Saturday before Liverpool's next match.
