Watch Out, Justin Bieber! BLACKPINK Are Storming Up YouTube's Subscriber Ranks
Oct 1, 2020
The group just pulled up behind Bieber for act with the most subscriptions.
BLACKPINK scored a major coup this week when they reached 48.9 million YouTube subscribers, putting them within spitting distance of the all-time YT subscription champ, Justin Bieber .
In the wind-up to Friday's (Oct. 2) release of their highly anticipated full-length debut, The Album , the K-pop supergroup has risen from No. 5 on the YT subscriber list in July to a close second to Bieber's 57.3 million subscribers.
The news comes on the eve of their debut on the new YouTube Originals music series RELEASED , which premieres at 11:45 p.m. ET on Thursday (Oct. 1), just minutes before the album's release. The 16-episode RELEASED is slated to air on Thursday nights before that week's major releases drop, and it will include exclusive performances and announcements.
"We are honored and happy to be the first on YouTube's new original content RELEASED. We hope that it will be a great opportunity to celebrate our first full album The Album with many global music fans," BLACKPINK said in a press statement announcing their debut episode. Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa have been dominating YouTube recently, with "How You Like That" hitting No. 1 on YouTube’s Global Top Song of Summer and their collab with Selena Gomez, "Ice Cream," debuting at No. 1 on YouTube’s Global Music Videos Chart last month.
