Oct 29, 2020
MT. MORRIS TWP., MI -- Parents in need of a winter coat for their children can get one during a giveaway Sunday, Nov. 1, at Dom Polski Hall, 3415 N. Linden Road.
Tammie L. Henderson, chairwoman of the event, said the new coats have been donated to her “Coat Fairy Giveaway” by individuals and Elevate Exchange, a clothing company founded by her nephew and Flint native Dustin Gaines.
Henderson, a Flint native and Flushing resident, said she’s collected about 100 boys and girls coats in children sizes 5-18, which will be given away on a first-come, first-serve basis from 1-4 p.m. Sunday. Children must be present to receive a coat, she said.
“My goal was to do 100,” Henderson said Thursday, Oct. 29. “It’s in my heart to do it. I know there’s kids out there that really need coats and appreciate the coats.”
Henderson has solicited donations to support the project and said donations will be accepted at the hall Sunday as well.
