Carlos Tevez: Ex-Manchester United and Man City striker to retire in 2021 and make surprise move into politics
Nov 25, 2020
Carlos Tevez is set to retire from football in 2021 and then embark in a surprise new career in politics, it is claimed.
According to reports in his native Argentina, the 36-year-old plans to hang up his boots following his third spell with hometown club Boca Juniors.
The former Manchester United, Man City, West Ham and Juventus ace has decided to call time on his career for a number of reasons, including the poor health of his father.
And, according to El Destape in Argentina , ‘El Apache’ will move away from football once Boca’s participation in the 2020 Copa Libertadores ends in January 2021.
Tevez will then make a surprise move to the political world, with the 36-year-old reportedly holding aspirations to work for ex-president Mauricio Macri.
Tevez has 11 league titles, one European Cup and an Olympic gold to his name over an almost 20-year career at the top of the game.
After a glittering career in Europe, he returned to boyhood club Boca in 2015 where he has helped the Argentine giants to four Primera Division crowns, plus the Copa Argentina and the Supercopa Argentina titles.
And having struck up a close friendship with Macri, including doing several business deals with the politician, it appears he’s eyeing a complete career change when he hangs up his boots.
But the reports in his homeland claim he and Macri will stay closer to the game than to governance of the country.
