- The COTU boss said no one should question the source of his wealth as he has been salaried for the past 52 years
- The workers' union boss said he has two wives, 17 children, two vehicles, pieces of land in his rural home and 26 cows
The Central Organisation of Trade Union (COTU) Secretary General, Francis Atwoli, recently cracked up the entire country after publicly 'declaring' his wealth on live national TV.
Unlike most public figures of his stature who would not share any info about their wealth, Atwoli listed a number of things he owns as the cameras rolled.
The trade unionist who was speaking in an interview with NTV on the night of Tuesday, May 14, revealed unknown details about some of his assets, including wives and children.
In his usual witty demeanor, the vocal workers' union boss said he has two wives, 17 children, two vehicles, pieces of land in his rural home and 26 cows.
''I have two wives, 17 children and 27 cows; 15 ordinary cows in Khwisero and some in Maasai land,'' he said.
Atwoli did not shy away from revealing he has two bank accounts; a current and savings accounts respectively.
''I have two bank accounts, one is for National Bank of Kenya and the other one is for Barclays Bank. I have a Mercedes Benz, I have a Prado, you can go and check from Toyota (Kenya) how I acquired that Prado,” he added.
Atwoli wrapped up by urging his critics to stop questioning the source of his wealth as he got everything he has genuinely.
The COTU boss held that he has been on salary for the past 52 years and no one should be wary of his riches.
