PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers lost 2-0 to the New York Red Bulls Wednesday night at Providence Park. Red Bulls goals coming from Kyle Duncan and a penalty kick from Daniel Royer in second-half stoppage time.

3' - GOAL (NYRB) - The Red Bulls scored first when an errant cross through the Timbers area found defender Kyle Duncan sprinting to the back post to slot home a goal and give New York a 1-0 lead.
6' - SAVE (POR) - After a wild scramble following a Steve Clark save that led to a rebound, a followup shot blocked by Jorge Villafaña and another rebound, New York hit a ball on frame only to have defender Bill Tuiloma block it off the line.
19' - CHANCE (POR) - Portland broke out on the counter with a ball upfield to Diego Valeri . Valeri stretched to cross a perfect ball to a speeding Diego Chara who chipped the keeper but his shot went off the crossbar.
21' - SAVE (POR) - Down the other way, a ball slipped through to NY's Josh Sims who quickly fired a shot but Clark pushed it up and over the goal.
31' - CHANCE (POR) - Following a Timbers free kick from the left side, the Red Bulls cleared the ball out but right back to Valeri. He sent a cross that found Tuiloma who hit a glancing header wide of the right post.
35' - CHANCE (POR) - Portland midfielder Tomás Conechny , with space outside the Red Bulls 18-yard box, curled a ball towards the upper 90 but the shot went just wide of the left post.
48' - CHANCE (POR) - Following a cleared Portland free kick, the ball was headed by Jorge Moreira to Valeri who flicked it on to Brian Fernandez on the left wing. His one-timed cross went to Tuiloma at the penalty spot who headed a shot but right at New York goalkeeper Luis Robles.
66' - CHANCE (POR) - On a Portland corner kick from Valeri, Jeremy Ebobisse snapped a strong header down but Robles was in position to make the save.
82' - CHANCE (POR) - Portland midfielder Sebastián Blanco , coming on as a second half substitute, lofted a perfect ball up and over the NY defense for a sprinting Ebobisse. Ebobisse went in on goal but pushed his shot just wide of the right post.
90+6' - GOAL (NYRB) - Following a controversial call of a foul by Moreira in the box, referee Alan Kelly pointed to the spot for a Red Bulls penalty kick. Daniel Royer hit is shot to the left and scored to make it 2-0 for the visitors.
90+7' - CHANCE (POR) - Valeri threaded a pass into Tuiloma in the box. The Portland centerback's shot squirted out to Fernandez on the left but his attempt went wide.
