Report: Wolves to battle with another PL side for aerial powerhouse

Promise

Oct. 13, 2019

Wolves could be set to battle with Premier League rivals West Ham in the race to sign defender, Christian Luyindama.
According to Turkish publication Fanatik , the English duo are both said to be keen on landing the 25-year-old, who has been a regular for Galatasaray this season.
A full Congolese international, the defender is being targeted for a move to England as both clubs begin to draw up their lists of potential January targets.
Aston Villa were previously thought to be interested in signing Luyindama, but the Villans now appear to be out of the picture, with Midlands rivals Wolves now looking to move into pole position to land the defender.
Luyindama made 20 appearances last season for Belgian side Standard Liege as he impressed enough to seal a move to the Turkish giants, and his form has continued in the same manner it would seem over in Turkey. Indeed, in the Champions League alone, the player is averaging more tackles per game (5.5, per WhoScored ) than anyone in the Wolves’ squad, while not a single player in the Black Country has won as many duels in the air per game as he has in the Super Lig this season (4.8).
Wolves could well be keen to improve their defence in the January window given they have conceded the same amount of goals (11) as they have scored this season in the Premier League.
West Ham, on the other hand, are searching for consistency in their performances given they have beaten the likes of Manchester United this season, but have also thrown points away at home against teams such as Crystal Palace. Winston Reid is surely entering the autumn of his career and has struggled with injury, so perhaps Luyindama could be an option to contest with Issa Diop, Angelo Ogbonna and Fabian Balbuena in East London.
Luyindama is a bit of an unknown entity over here in England to most fans but he must be doing something right to attract so much attention.
Judging from the stats above, he looks a big and strong defender and playing for a club the size of Galatasaray is no mean feat.
Both teams could do with help if they are to push for top ten finishes this season, and the 25-year-old might well prove a shrewd addition if they can pull it off.
