Dec. 03, 2019
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives on Tuesday arrested three government officials attached to the Homa Bay County government.
The three are being held responsible for the loss of Sh150 million from the county coffers.
The three were identified as Kepha Rombe, Mary Agong and her husband Chris Agong who are accused of awarding tenders to their own companies.
Homa Bay County DCI boss Daniel Wachira confirmed that the three had been booked at Kisii Police Station before they were arraigned in court.
He also revealed that EACC is also trailing a number of county officials in connection to other corruption cases.
Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti has been summoned several times by the Senate over varied cases of irregular procurement practices.
He was recently out to task over his long absence from office to which he produced a doctor's note written in German.
“I have been unwell. I cannot even read well now. I was recently in Germany and India for treatment. My eyes are really troubling me,” Awiti stated at the time.
