Jan. 09, 2020
A controversial armed robber stole from a bank only to spread the money to people on the street.
The suspected is reported to have robbed Starbucks coffee shop Academy Bank in Colorado Springs on the eve of New Year.
After stealing the money, he threw it in the air for people to pick while shouting “Happy New Year!”
“He started throwing money out of the bag” while yelling, “Merry Christmas,” an eyewitness told Colorado Springs television station KKTV.
The report suggests that some bystanders were delighted by the robber’s generosity and scrambled for the money.
The Colorado Spring later revealed that thousands of dollars could not be recovered after the incident.
Meanwhile, the suspect, identified as Oliver, has since been arrested and held on $10,000 bond at the El Paso County jail.
The HuffingtonPost reports that the suspect will make his first appearance in court next Thursday.
