Herbert Mwachiro enters race to replace Nick Mwendwa as FKF boss

Former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Deputy General Secretary /CEO Herbert Mwachiro has entered the race for the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Presidency to unseat incumbent Nick Mwendwa.
The FKF elections are slowly gathering pace with Mwachiro joining more aspirants who have already announced their intentions to run for the top seat.
Apart from Mwachiro, others are immediate former Cecafa Secretary General Nicholas Musonye, former Vihiga Governor Moses Akaranga, and former FKF boss Sam Nyamweya.
Mwachiro said his decision had been informed by the desire to transform the football industry.
‘’I declare my candidature for the post of Football Kenya Federation president ahead of the upcoming polls,’’ Mwachiro said in a press statement sent to the newsroom.
‘’My decision to run for the top football seat in the country is informed by the desire to transform the football industry to a sustainable sector that will put Kenya where it deserves to be on the continental and global football map.

‘’While meaningful progress has been made under different administrations over the past decade, the main stakeholders of the game who are players continue to suffer and struggle to make ends meet.’’
Mwachiro also said the game is not well packaged to attract sponsors, stating that if elected, he will create confidence in sponsors and they will be part of ensuring players make a meaningful living from football .
