Three Mpesa Fraudsters Arrested With Over 3,000 Sim Cards

DCI detectives from the serious crime unit have arrested three notorious Mpesa fraudsters with over 3,000 registered and unregistered sim cards.
“Three notorious Mpesa Fraudsters who have been operating across the country defrauding unsuspecting Mpesa operators of their cash were today arrested by DCI Serious Crime Unit detectives, and over 3,000 Safaricom lines, both registered & unregistered recovered.”
The first suspect to be arrested was one Jacktone Odhiambo Opondo residing in Njoro-Nakuru County. Detectives found the sim cards in his house.
“Following intelligence leads, the detectives pounced on Jacktone Odhiambo Opondo at Belbur Nobility Flats located at Egerton in Njoro-Nakuru County, in whose house the sim cards were found.”Said DCI
Two more suspects Milicent Wanjiru and John Karuku were arrested in Kiambu County for being accomplice to the crime.
“The team furthered their operation to Juja in Kiambu County, where 31-yr-old Millicent Wanjiru Maina & John Karuku Kabue were also nabbed at Muigai Inn, being accomplices of the first suspect.”Said DCI
According to the DCI detectives, the suspects usually approach Mpesa agents in the pretext of selling sim cards to them before stealing their phones and flushing the float.
