Homeboyz players: We owe it to Muyoti
Shortly after taking over the reins at Kakamega Homeboyz, Nicholas Muyoti has been credited with forging unity, introducing self-belief and injecting a winning mentality into his playing unit.
Muyoti, who took over from Ugandan coach Paul Nkata, has turned Homeboyz into a well-oiled winning machine that visiting teams rarely collect points at Bukhungu.
That the side finished second, just four points below winners Gor Mahia, in the cancelled 2019/20 KPL season is a testament to Muyoti success.
When Muyoti took over last year, the team was struggling and was languishing mid-table, but today both the players and the fans have nothing butpraise for the tactician.
David Okoth who had a short stint with Nzoia before moving back to Homeboyz where he has cemented his position in the first eleven, is one the players who have seen a major turn round in the club.
“It has been great playing under Muyoti. The players are united and eager to sacrifice and give all their best for the club.
“Under Muyoti we have seen players like Peter Thiong’o, left-back CollinsOdhiambo and defender Benson Mutonyi given the opportunity and they have proven they have what it takes to succeed at a high level.
“I believe I am at the right place getting the support and being taught great skills and techniques on how to improve.
He is shaping me to be among the greatest players ever, to realize my potential,” saidOkoth.
Okoth who has formed one of the most lethal combinations alongside Moses Mudavadi, Allan Wanga, Peter Thiong’o and Stephen Etyang, has become one of the dead balls specialists, scoring crucial goals for the Kakamega Homeboyz.
Another player who has flourished under Muyoti is former Thika United attacking midfielder Shami Mwinyi who has adapted well to life in Kakamega and has become a darling of Homeboyz fans.
