Breaking: Former MASLOC CEO Jailed 10 Years For Committing This Serious Crime- What She Did Under Mahama Will Shock You
Apr 16, 2024
Former Chief Executive Officer of the
Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Madam Sedina Tamakloe Attionu, has been handed a significant judgment, receiving a 10- year prison sentence with hard labor for her role in causing a staggering financial loss of GH¢90 million to the state.
The prosecution has accused Mrs Attionu of engaging in illegalities, leading to the alleged stealing and financial loss. It has accused Mrs Attionu of embezzling GH¢500, 000 that was paid by a company which benefitted from MASLOC support in 2014. It is also the case of the prosecution that in 2013, following a fire disaster at the Kantamanto Market, then- President John Mahama directed MASLOC to provide assistance of GH¢1. 46 million to victims of the disaster, but Mrs Attionu allegedly embezzled part of the money.
The GH¢90 million financial loss attributed to Attionu' s mismanagement represents a significant setback for MASLOC and its mandate to provide financial assistance to micro, small, and medium- scale enterprises (MSMEs). The funds diverted or misappropriated under her leadership could have been instrumental in empowering entrepreneurs, stimulating economic growth, and fostering job creation across the country.
Former MASLOC leader Sedina Christine Tamakloe Attionu receives a 10- year prison term, while Director of Operations Daniel Axim is sentenced to 5 years by the High Court. Both face consequences for their involvement in financial misconduct, reflecting the judiciary' s commitment to accountability and justice. The case against Madam Attionu underscores the importance of robust oversight mechanisms and stringent accountability measures to prevent and detect financial malfeasance in public office.
