On Tuesday, a tragic multiple vehicle accident occurred along Agulu- Agwubu Road in the Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, resulting in the deaths of five individuals and injuries to six others.

The incident took place around 9: 55 a. m. and involved several vehicles, including a commercial Howo truck, a commercial TVS tricycle (registration number NZH84LG), a commercial Qlink motorcycle (registration number OLU245QV), and a private Honda motorcycle.

Eyewitnesses reported that the accident was caused by the truck driver losing control of his vehicle due to brake failure as he approached a checkpoint at high speed.

The truck collided with the other vehicles at the checkpoint, causing a catastrophic crash.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi, confirmed the incident and attributed the cause to excessive speed and brake failure.

He expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and offered prayers for the injured. He also urged motorists to adhere to safe speed limits to ensure they reach their destinations safely.

In his statement, Irelewuyi provided details of the crash: " A fatal road traffic crash was recorded today, July 9, 2024, at Green Energy Oil and Gas by Eke Awgbu along Agulu- Agwubu Road.
