Amplifying African Culture in Sports
NBA Nigeria hosted its inaugural Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Elite Camp in Lagos. This is part of their initiative to develop the talent pipeline in Nigeria. The camp, led by WNBA All-Star and US President’s Advisory Council member on the African Diaspora, Chiney Ogwumike, brought together 40 boys and girls to enhance their talents, acquire exposure to advanced coaching approaches, and develop better comprehension of the principles of the game. “We are excited about introducing an elite camp in Nigeria. It speaks to our broader efforts to uncover and develop young basketball talent here in Nigeria and across the continent and provide more elite young athletes with a disciplined and high-quality training environment for developing their skills as basketball players and leaders. We intend to do more elite camps and give as many young athletes the opportunity to showcase their talent.” Gbemisola Abudu, NBA Africa Vice President and Country Head, NBA Nigeria.
