A man identified as David Nwokorie was arrested and detained for breaking up with Genevieve Opara, a daughter of retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Hilary Opara. The suspect was arrested after Genevieve filed complaints, accusing him of cyberstalking and blackmail. He was arrested on Tuesday and held in police custody without being charged to court. The matter escalated and became known to the public after the intervention of the Nigerian activist, Omoyele Sowore.

According to the story, David and Genevieve dated for some time and along the line, David found out that Genevieve was married before and already had two children. She did not reveal her past relationship when she was dating David. When he found out, he ended the relationship and moved on with his life by marrying another woman.

When Genevieve found out about the development, she stormed David' s house and damaged many of his properties. Her actions made David decide that he didn' t want to have anything to do with Genevieve anymore. He decided to end their joint NGO project, which they started together last year. He also demanded N25 million in compensation for what she had damaged in his house.

He further posted a flyer of Genevieve online with the information that she is wanted for causing damages to his home. In reaction to the claims, Genevieve filed a petition with the police, accusing David of cyberbullying and extortion. Although all her reactions show that she still loves David but he doesn' t want her anymore because she refuses to disclose her past relationship.
