Dagne Dover Dakota Backpack review: Designed for work-life balance
May 11, 2025
Stylish, durable, and surprisingly roomy — this backpack nails fashion and function.
Work travel has taken over my life lately. I frequently find myself flying from coast to coast or taking trains and road-tripping to the places in between. I needed a backpack, but I refused to sacrifice fashion for function. I am picky.
Enter the Dagne Dover Dakota Backpack. From the moment I laid eyes on it, I had to try it. It's incredibly chic, ultra-durable and water-resistant, which translates to travel- and commute-proof. Dagne Dover built its reputation on creating high-quality pieces that solve problems and keep you organized. Because I work remotely and am always on the go, the Dakota Backpack seemed to be precisely what I needed — and the brand's commitment to eco-friendly practices made me eager to get my hands on one ASAP.
Design and features
Dagne Dover's Dakota Backpack comes in three sizes: a large 20-liter bag, a medium 16-liter bag and a small 8-liter bag. After reviewing the specs, I chose the medium, which matches the versatility I need. All of the bags come in a wide range of colors, including neutrals like my go-to black and bolder shades of blue and green.
Each backpack is water-resistant, 100% vegan and hand-washable, though the interior setup varies slightly by size. The medium backpack features a built-in tech sleeve that fits a 13-inch laptop alongside your daily essentials, while the large holds laptops up to 16 inches. The small is best suited for carrying a tablet and everyday must-haves.
