Watford 2 Arsenal 2: Guendouzi taunts rival fans with ‘2-1’ hand gesture – but is left red-faced as Pereyra nets late equaliser
Sept. 16, 2019
MATTEO GUENDOUZI taunted the home fans by making a "2-1" gesture as he was subbed off at Vicarage Road - but Watford had the last laugh.
The Hornets snatched a late point after Roberto Pereyra's penalty cancelled out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's brace from the first half.
Guendouzi was hauled off in the second half and replaced by Lucas Torreira.
As he strolled off the pitch, the Frenchman looked up at the fans and held his fingers in the air to remind them of the score.
Arsenal were leading 2-1 at the time after Tom Cleverley found the net as a result of some dodgy defending by Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
Fans went wild after footage of Guendouzi's hand signal went viral on social media.
One said: "It's so stupid, but I love him lol."
While another added: "So stupid to do this before the game ends."
But Guendouzi was left red-faced after David Luiz fouled Pereyra to give away a penalty in the 79th minute of the match.
Arsenal looked set for three points after Aubameyang opened the scoring in style after 21 minutes.
The Gabon international received the ball with his back to goal before he swivelled and fired a right-footed strike into the corner of the net.
And he doubled his tally after a clever ball into the box from Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
