2023: Arewa Youths Speak On Buhari Handing Over To Tinubu
Oct. 09, 2019
The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has said Bola Tinubu stands no chance to become to replace President Muhammadu Buhari.
Concise News understands that the National President of the AYCT Yerima Shettima said this, adding that the north might jettison the rotation of the presidency.
Buhari is from the North Western Katsina State and is expected to hand over power to someone from the southern part of the country at the end of his second-term four-year tenure in 2019.
Tinubu who is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a former Governor of Lagos State has been rumoured to be in contention for the presidency.
However, Shettima has said the rotational presidency might be jettisoned as the north is not benefitting from the Buhari government.
“As you may know, time and event change a lot of things. Naturally, you will agree with me that we are practicing democracy and you will also agree with me that the North has faced a lot of challenges and as such, you cannot leave your house in hunger and take the little you have and give it out,” he told Daily Independent.
“So, we will ensure we lobby and work with progressive Nigerians towards this, considering the fact that we are faced with a lot of challenges; insecurity, unemployment rate is high and so many things were not done.
“The entire government and administration of President Muhammadu Buhari favours the Southwest and other parts of the South.
“The North has nothing to show for it. So, you should not have expected that the North will just fold its hands and allow things to just go like that and allow this opportunity to slip off our hands. No, it is not right.”
And when asked if the decision by the north would cause issues between Buhari and Tinubu who is touted to be in contention for the presidency, he said: “Asiwaju is even the last person that the North will even consider.”
