NOT HAPPENING! Manchester United's Deal For Bruno Fernandes Is Off After Glazer Verdict
Jan. 24, 2020
Manchester United's move for Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes is reportedly off, following the Portugues side's stance on the player's transfer fee.Sporting are holding out for £68m, with the English side said to be willing to fork out £51m.Fernandes is one of Man United's top targets for the current transfer window, and the latest development will send them back to the drawing board. They already missed out on another of their top targets in Erling Haaland, who joined Borussia Dortmund from Salzburg in December. The Old Trafford outfit chiefs have come under sharp criticism from fans in recent times, who have questioned their commitment to landing top targets.
They lack a creative spark in the middle of the park, which is only worsened by injuries to key players Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay.Their 2-0 home loss on Wednesday night against Burnley once again highlighted their struggles and further underlined the need for some fresh blood in key areas.Fernandes is seen as the ideal candidate for the role, and numbers from last season back up this thought. The 25-year-old starred in the Primeira Liga with 20 goals and 13 assists in the 2018-19 season and was part of the Portugal national team that lifted the inaugural Nations League title. He is under contract at the Estadio Jose Alvalade until 2023.
