MUST SEE! What We Think About The Humour In 'Your Excellency' Movie

Feb. 24, 2020

Your Excellency which was directed by Funke Akindele, is a two-hour political satire comedy that tells the story of a bumbling, billionaire businessman, failed presidential candidate and Donald Trump wannabe, Lekan Ajadi (Akin Lewis) who becomes a credible contender when his dance moves and gaffes ignite social media.
The Ajadis played by Funke Akindele-Bello (Kemi Ajadi) and Akin Lewis (Lekan Ajadi) know how to have fun and with the comedic duo, the film sets off. Mr Ajadi is a wealthy politician who is contesting in the presidential elections for the third time and absolutely adores Kemi, who is his second wife.
According to Mamazeus review, Your Excellency movie ‘was two hours of asking what the hell I was watching, snorting at the audacity of first time director, Funke Akindele who decided to pull the narcissistic card to finally concluding it wasn’t such a bad one.’
Its major win however is its comedy. Kemi Filani says ‘Your Excellency had quite a number of impressive hilarious scenes that shook several tables in the Nigerian political/social media scene…from the dancing senator, Ademola Adeleke to Rochas Okorocha who created a ministry of happiness, to Donald Trump, to bloggers and of course, fake slay queens!
Overall, the acting was superb, the costumes were great, the sound and picture quality were also just as good. However, if you just want to laugh, then you should see Your Excellency. Asides the humour, the storyline is certainly not one of its strong points.
