BREAKING: Buhari Approves Reorganisation Of Police Force…SEE The New Structure
May 28, 2020
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved a reorganization of the Nigeria Police Force.
The reorganisation will see the Force Intelligence Bureau, FIB, stand alone as a department.
This directive was contained in a document dated May 27th and obtained by SCOOPER News.
The new Organisation will see the Force Intelligence Bureau being excised from the Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID.
Buhari in his capacity as Chairman of the Nigeria Police Council, NPC, has also approved that the new department should be led by a Deputy Inspector General of Police.
“This is expected to fully integrate intelligence-led policing strategy to the Community Policing initiative in addressing the threats that the dynamics of crime poses to the country. With this approval, the Nigeria Police Force now has 8 departments,” the document read.
Two additional annex offices have also been established for the FCID in Enugu and Gombe States. While the office in Enugu will take care of South East and South Southern states, the Gombe office will take care of the crimes emanating from the North East.
